Modular Layout

 The Lancashire 7mmNGA group has decided to build a modular layout, each member will build one section with the aim that all the different pieces coming together to form a full layout, with total interchangeability so the individual boards can be assembled in any order. 

We've decided to use pre-cut boards from Grainge and Hodder

A 15mm dia hole was added to the end panel of each board, so connecting cables can be passed through.

HobbyTrax - stay-alive capacitor

HobbyTrax sell a range of capacitors that are designed to provide a "stay-alive" feature for DC locomotives. They are just wired across the motor terminals. Its difficult to judge how effective they are, as the loco had always run well. However, over a period of time it will be interesting see it makes any difference.
